Experience with various trade specific tools such as: grinder, hand torch, hydraulic and ratchet jack, chain fall and/or come-a-long, combination square, framing square, hand level and plumb bob
Read and interpret blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
Minimum 3 Yrs. trade experience

Safely operate hand and power tools, including grinders, saws, and drills.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting structural drawings, including weld symbols and Navy damage control diagrams.
Ability to write clear Condition Found Reports (CFR) detailing the ship's material condition and recommended actions.
Strong comprehension of instructions, drawings, and correspondence.
Physical capability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with OSHA standards.
Welding experience in SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW techniques.
Knowledge of structural shop fabrication equipment like shears, punches, and brakes.
Proficiency with oxy-acetylene torch cutting and washing.
2-10 years of experience as a Shipfitter Journeyperson
In-depth understanding of ship repair terminology and compartment location nomenclature.
Strong mathematical skills for measurements using both US customary and metric systems.
Effective communication skills for conveying job-related information to supervisors and team members.
Minimum of four years of relevant experience.
Understanding of the aluminum 5XXX process.
Experience fabricating templates, squaring plates, and installing perpendiculars on ships.
