Security Officer Position

Full Time Position

7:00pm-7:30am

To be fully engaged in providing security services to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors to UF Health Jacksonville.

Qualifications

Required Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree

Necessary Skills:

1. Ability to reason and make decisions independently without direct supervision under a variety of conditions.

2. Physical ability to subdue and restrain combative individuals.

3. Ability to diffuse and control situations involving combative individuals and threatening situations.

4. Take the initiative to reach out and assist visitors, patients and staff to address their needs.

5. Maintain a professional appearance while in uniform and personal hygiene.

6. Use a professional and considerate tone of voice when assisting patients, staff and visitors.

7. Must pass annual physical fitness test.

8. Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds from the ground and place on a stretcher.

9. Ascend two floors carrying a fire extinguisher in 30 seconds.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

-Valid Florida or Georgia Driver License with a clean record, or violations not exceeding maximum points as provided in hospital policy.

-State of Florida Class D Security Officer License and maintain current status.

-International Association for Healthcare Security & Safety (IAHSS) Basic Level Certification (must be completed within 90 days of employment).

Preferred Licensure/Certifications: ASIS Certified Protection Professional (CPP)

Required Experience: 3-5 years of law enforcement, military, or hospital security experience

Preferred Experience: Experience as military police or military combat unit
