  • Oversee all aspects of facility management, including assessing current processes in resident care, staffing, scheduling, clinical services, administrative workflows, and support departments; identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to enhance resident outcomes, control costs (e.g., labor, supplies), and boost operational performance.
  • Lead change management and team development initiatives, including policy/procedure updates, staff training and supervision, stakeholder alignment (residents, families, staff, physicians), and addressing resistance to ensure high standards of care and efficient operations.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as resident census/occupancy, quality measures, regulatory survey results, staffing levels, overtime/agency usage, budget adherence, resident/family satisfaction, incident/accident rates, and overall financial health; escalate issues and drive actions to meet or exceed targets.
  • Collaborate closely with facility leadership (Directors of Nursing, department heads, medical director), frontline staff, residents, families, and external partners (e.g., physicians, surveyors, vendors) to align operations with resident needs, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals; provide ongoing support, troubleshoot challenges, and recommend enhancements.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal (CMS), state (Maryland Office of Health Care Quality), and local regulations, including survey readiness, infection control, resident rights, and quality assurance/performance improvement programs.
  • Manage budgeting, financial operations, revenue cycle (Medicare/Medicaid/private pay), expense control, and resource allocation to maintain fiscal responsibility and support facility sustainability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, families, staff, and community stakeholders to foster a positive environment, address concerns promptly, and position the facility as a trusted provider of skilled nursing care.
  • Drive continuous improvement by gathering feedback from residents, families, and staff; identifying opportunities for better care delivery and efficiency; and implementing best practices in long-term and post-acute care.
  • Oversee day-to-day facility operations, including staffing schedules, resident admissions/discharges, maintenance, safety protocols, and proactive risk management.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Nursing Home Administrator (LNHA) in Maryland preferred or eligible/willing to obtain promptly; prior experience in Maryland skilled nursing facilities is a plus.
  • Open to candidates ranging from early-career professionals with strong potential and eagerness to learn (with relevant healthcare operations background), to seasoned leaders with 5+ years in skilled nursing facility management, long-term care operations, regulatory compliance, or similar leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead operational changes, improve processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver results in fast-paced, high-stakes skilled nursing environments.
  • Strong understanding of skilled nursing facility operations, including clinical workflows (nursing, therapy, CNA staffing), regulatory requirements (CMS, Maryland OHCQ), labor management, quality improvement, resident care standards, and financial drivers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to influence teams, engage residents/families, supervise diverse staff, and build consensus at all levels.
  • Hands-on, proactive mindset with strong problem-solving abilities; comfortable in an on-site leadership role with local travel as needed within the Baltimore metro and Maryland suburbs.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven individual with high energy, adaptability, integrity, and a collaborative, resident-first approach.

Compensation

Base salary range of $120,000 – $180,000 annually, commensurate with experience, track record, and ability to deliver transformative impact. Plus performance-based bonuses and incentives tied to facility-level outcomes such as regulatory compliance, resident satisfaction, census growth, cost control, and overall operational success. This is a high-earning opportunity for driven leaders who can execute effectively and drive measurable improvements in a dynamic skilled nursing environment.
