Network Operations And Tools Engineer

Location: Trenton, NJ - Hybrid Duration: 3 months CTH

Job description: Perform installation, configuration, customization, and training for SolarWinds. Primary areas of expertise include system administration and configuration of NPM, NTA, NCM, and IPAM to manage and monitor network infrastructure, including routers. Individual contributor role; fully competent to work under general direction. Knowledge of business or function for which application is designed. Integration with ServiceNow and other toolsets preferred.

Recommended, design and integrate monitoring solutions SolarWinds with ServiceNow. Perform requirements gathering necessary to design and build infrastructure/applications enterprise monitoring systems. Perform analysis and make recommendations on tools design that meets industry best practice for monitoring and troubleshooting. Perform the installation/patching of all required system software for the monitoring system. Validate the system for functionality, performance, fault tolerance, and operational readiness. Work closely with operational support teams such as Network, Windows, and Security to provide a holistic monitoring solution. Execute detailed network/server discovery, device monitoring, topology visualization, and assist with identifying root cause analysis (RCA) capabilities. Identify issues, develop, and maintain processes that address and resolve them, (and be sure to communicate/alert stakeholders as needed). Assist to make enhancements (SolarWinds) and troubleshoot issues as they occur. Proactively put forward ideas that speak to project objectives (e.g., development, testing solutions, and tools). Stay on top of state-of-health monitoring and SLA targets. Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Preferred skills: Experience as Monitoring and Event Management engineer. API development. SQL experience. Subject Matter Expert SolarWinds monitoring solutions, components. (Required) Preferred: Tools integration, development and integration using scripting (Plus) Application and Network Monitoring support DCIM Data Center (Plus) Perl, PowerShell, XML, JavaScript, C#, and Linux/Unix Shell scripting. Integration with ServiceNow Event Management Networking, IT Security and Network technologies. Syslog/SNMP v2/3 trap forwarding/receiving/configuration. Automation i.e., automating common repeatable tasks. Event/Alerts, Report - Solarwinds Diagnose and solve complex technical issues. Working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, SNMP, HTTP, syslog, DR setup and other protocols. Working Knowledge of ITIL framework, concepts (Incident, Change Management Experience using Incident Management Response Systems Setting up monitoring profiles, polling policies and thresholds. Knowledge of CMDB data models and asset classifications. Platform management and administration of large-scale monitoring systems SolarWinds, XIQ, Sunbird DCIM. ITILv3 or ITIL4 certification. Experience interfacing and effectively communicating with executive level management. Experience managing multiple monitoring tools; and integrations.
