Term Faculty, Teaching or Clinical Series, Open Rank, College of Nursing and Health Sciences

Seattle University invites applications to fill multiple 9-month term faculty positions (Clinical or Teaching Track, open rank) to begin September 1, 2026. Position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Term faculty have the responsibility to actively pursue and participate in activities related to teaching and service and institution-building. Faculty on the clinical track are also responsible expected to engage in scholarly activity. The Nursing program offers prelicensure and postlicensure nursing degrees including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) with specialties in Family Nurse Practitioner, Acute Care-Adult Gerontology, Psychiatric-Mental Health, Midwifery, and Women's Health.

The BSN and DNP academic degree programs are seeking candidates with experience as an Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care or Primary Care) or Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; as well as expertise in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Mental Health, Pediatrics, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology. Faculty have opportunity for involvement in both pre-licensure and post-licensure nursing programs and to instruct in both in-person and virtual classrooms as well as in clinical practice and simulation settings across a range of nursing specialty areas. Individuals with knowledge and experience in competency-based education (as defined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing), facilitating simulation, and artificial intelligence related to nursing education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Clinical Track: An earned research, practice or education doctorate from an accredited institution (degree must by awarded by August 1, 2026 for appointment to this track)
  • Teaching Track: An earned master's degree in Nursing or a closely related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum two years of clinical experience
  • RN licensure in Washington State, Advanced Practice applicants must hold ARNP licensure in Washington state by start date
  • A record of scholarly achievement and teaching excellence
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and inclusion
  • Strong organizational skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Specialty Certification
  • Experience mentoring faculty prelicensure or postlicensure students
  • Record of publication and scholarly presentations

Compensation at a Glance: Salary Range: $76,000-$78,000 Benefits at a Glance: Choose from three different medical plans, a dental, and vision insurance programs. Plan for your future with up to a 10% employer contribution for retirement benefits, comprised of a 5% nonelective employer contribution and an additional dollar-for-dollar match of your voluntary contributions up to a maximum of 5%.
