Position Summary:
The Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides comprehensive hybrid inpatient and outpatient care to antepartum patients with high-risk obstetric and medical conditions at UNC Medical Center. This innovative role combines clinical practice on the High-Risk Antepartum Inpatient Unitwith MFMoutpatient clinics, providing maximum scheduling flexibility, continuity of care across settings, and a uniquely versatile provider experience.
Working collaboratively within the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine alongside antepartum attendings, fellows, and residents, the APP performs patient assessments, develops and implements treatment plans, and coordinates multidisciplinary care for complex antepartum patients in both hospital and clinic environments. This dual-setting role ensures seamless care transitions for patients moving between inpatient and outpatient management while offering the provider diverse clinical experiences and professional growth opportunities. As an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, the APP delivers high-quality, evidence-based care to pregnant patients with complications including preterm labor, preeclampsia, gestational and pregestational diabetes, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, fetal anomalies, multiple gestations, and other maternal-fetal conditions. The hybrid model allows the APP to follow patients longitudinally from clinic through hospitalization and back to outpatient care, enhancing relationship continuity and clinical outcomes. Opportunities exist to support departmental needs across clinical areas and contribute to divisional initiatives and special projects.
