Job SummaryOperating Room (Open Heart) Registered Nurse (RN) Saint Louis, Missouri.This position supports cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgical services, including cardiac and thoracic cases primarily and a range of complex vascular and transplant procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts (3x12s), with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Active RN licensure in accordance with state requirements (MO: submit without license OK; requires MO or compactno issuance if tied to another compact state; IL: license in hand required at time of submittal; Compact: must match permanent residenceotherwise submit for update and confirm ETA); Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); RN experience of 2 years required (1 year considered if experience is within a Level 1 trauma facility); Level 1 trauma facility experience required; scrub experience required and circulate experience required
  • Preferred Qualifications: BSN preferred
  • Additional Information:
    • Call coverage is required as needed, including weekday, weeknight, and weekend shifts per unit call policy (call shifts may be more or less than 34 weekday/weeknight and 12 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule period, based on unit needs).
    • Floating within the service line is required.
    • Cardiac and thoracic cases are primary; vascular procedures include open and endovascular procedures, and may include transplant cases (liver, kidney, pancreas), Whipples (pancreatic procedures), and abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs.
    • Heart and lung transplant experience is needed for the night shift; candidates should be screened accordingly.
    • Start times may rotate as needed.
    • Pre-start readiness includes entering missing instruments into the applicable system (process discussed during orientation).
    • Vaccination: flu vaccination is required (medical/religious exemptions only).
