Description The Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.

Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations.
Responsibilities include:
- Direct patient care delivery, including, but not limited to: ADLs/hygiene, Vital signs, I&O, Bladder scanning, EKG, Glucometer & other point of care testing (where applicable) and Restraints
- Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
- Participation in quality improvement process
- Involved in learning and self-improvement
- Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers
- Behavioral Health Unit (BHU)
- General Acute Care (Medical/Surgical)
Acute Care Unit (11 Smythe) - Ortho/Trauma/Surgical (6 Smythe)
- Step Down
Stepdown (8 Smythe)
- Flexible schedules & orientation

- More hands-on practice of clinical & interpersonal skills
- Build confidence in providing patient care
- Team-work oriented staff & interdisciplinary teams
- Exposure to EMR systems & documentation of interventions & observations

- Pathway to RN position post-graduation
- Enrollment in a Diploma RN, Associate or bachelor's degree of Nursing from an accredited program
- Successful completion of a Registered Nursing Fundamentals course required
- Most up-to-date transcripts should be uploaded with application - help limit f/u post-offer & clarify qualification when screening
- Prior experience on a related unit or specialty in a practicum, internship or STNA/PCNA/NAII is preferred
