Description

On Call Stagehand

Stagehand is responsible for ensuring the success of a show and event production by performing the technical and support duties that are behind the scenes.

Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to:

  1. Load and unload props, scenery and materials from trucks.
  2. Set up lighting, props, and sound equipment.
  3. Assist with video, sound, and light production.
  4. Fill any role in the wardrobe department.
  5. Move and rearrange furniture.
  6. Unload and set up road cases.
  7. Perform spotlight operation during shows.
  8. Construct and paint set pieces.
  9. Set up risers and musical equipment.
  10. Disassemble and store scenery.
  11. Assist with set changes.
  12. Ensure props are present at beginning of scene and taken away at end.
  13. Dismantle and assemble scenery and other set pieces.
  14. Work with traveling crew and other customers.
  15. Run consoles as needed.
  16. Assist carpenters with building and installing scenery.
  17. Operate house rigging system.
  18. Clean up stage and backstage area before and after performance.
  19. Operate scenery-moving machinery.

Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of customers or employees.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee may work in high, precarious places and is frequently to move about in a dark or low light environment.
