Job Title

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Shall Include, But Not Be Limited To The Following:

• Meet and instruct assigned activities in the locations and times designated
• Create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Prepare for assignments
• Encourage students to set and maintain acceptable standards of behavior
• Employ a variety of techniques to enhance the activity
• Assist students to become self-directed learners
• Understand and apply knowledge about student growth and development in order to provide maximum student learning
• Implement the District's philosophy of education
• Enforce safety precautions and guidelines to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
• Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by laws, District policy and administrative regulations
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student behavior and conduct
• Enforce and follow the policies and administrative regulations of the District
• Supervising students during out of school hours
• Teach teamwork
• Teach sports fundamentals
• Perform all duties as assigned

Education And/Or Experience

Preferred: High School coaching experience

Required:

-Teaching or Substitute Certificate Required

-Valid IVP Finger Print Card Required

-Valid First Aide/CPR training required

-Valid Coaching Certificate

High School Head Coaching Requirements:

Head Coaches must have completed the requirements below before starting:

• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)
• Arizona Teaching Certificate OR Arizona Coaching Certificate (preferred) OR Arizona Substitute Certificate (if the other two are not attainable)
• NFHS Level I Certification (Includes Concussion in Sports, Fundamentals of Coaching, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, and Protecting Students from Abuse)
• NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety Certificate (applicable for Cheer, Dance and Spirit line)
• NFHS First Aid, Health, and Safety Certificate/CPR

High School Varsity Assistant, JV, and FR Coaches and Middle School Coaches*:

Must have completed before starting:

• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
• NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate
• NFHS First Aid, Health, and Safety Certificate/CPR
• NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety Certificate (applicable for Cheer, Dance and Spirit line)

Volunteer Coaches*:

Must have completed before starting:

• Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC) OR District run background check
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certificate
• NFHS Concussion in Sports Certificate
• NFHS First Aid, Health, and Safety Certificate/CPR
• NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety Certificate (applicable for Cheer, Dance and Spirit line)

* Coaches are not to be on the field/court until Human Resources has cleared them

** Age Requirement: All paid, and volunteer coaches must be 21 years of age, EXCEPT, If the applicant is an FHUSD graduate and/or former student-athlete at that school, we may approve them younger than 21 but must be at least 18. Written verification from the Athletic Director is required.
