This is more than a direct care position. As a Residential Instructor, you will work directly with children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them develop the academic, social, vocational, and independent living skills needed to lead meaningful and productive lives. You will become part of a collaborative team of educators, therapists, psychologists, and human service professionals committed to helping students achieve their fullest potential.

At Boston Higashi School, we follow the internationally recognized Daily Life Therapy model, a unique educational approach that supports students throughout their entire day. Through structured activities, physical exercise, community experiences, and individualized instruction, our staff help students build confidence, independence, and lifelong skills.

What You'll Do

  • Teach and support daily living, communication, social, and vocational skills
  • Help students achieve goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Participate in community outings, recreational activities, and physical fitness programs
  • Work closely with teachers, psychologists, therapists, and other professionals to support student success
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to educational planning and progress reports
  • Build positive relationships that foster student growth, confidence, and independence
  • Assist students in developing healthy routines, emotional regulation, and appropriate social behaviors
  • Create a safe, supportive, and engaging residential environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive, professional attitude and willingness to learn
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to participate in student activities, including physical exercise and community-based programming

Schedule: Full-time positions available on afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts within our 24-hour residential program.
