The DCIU has immediate needs for Paraprofessionals located across all of our programs.

The job of Paraprofessional was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in the regular classroom or in a self-contained classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during nonclassroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.

Minimum requirements:

* High school Diploma or Equivalent

* Must acquire status as a Highly Qualified Paraprofessional

* Participation, successful completion, and passing required professional development events, in-services, and trainings

* Experience with children

* Flexible and reliable

* Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer

* Must have adequate verbal and written communication skills

* Ability to function under the direction of the teacher

* Possess good judgment

* Ability to establish rapport with students

* Ability to maintain positive relationships with program staff

* Reliable means of transportation

The Paraprofessional positions are 10-month positions.
