Provide expert speech-language pathology care in a hospital setting, supporting patients' recovery and communication needs over a 13-week assignment with the potential for extension. As a valued team member, you'll work under the supervision of a therapy manager and play a critical role in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and swallowing disorders. Schedule:
- Wednesday to Saturday
- 10-hour shifts (7:45 am - 6:15 pm; start time negotiable)
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required; Master's degree preferred
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous experience with inpatient rehab, adult acute care, adult patient assessments, and bedside swallow or BIM assessments highly preferred
- Expertise in thorough, accurate documentation
- Experience using Cerner or Epic electronic medical records systems is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a proven ability to work independently
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to adapt to a fast-paced healthcare environment
Key Responsibilities: - Evaluate patients and develop targeted treatment plans to address communication and swallowing deficits
- Provide direct speech-language pathology services and adjust therapy plans as needed
- Conduct thorough and timely patient assessments, including bedside swallows and BIM assessments
- Document all patient encounters, progress, and outcomes using hospital EMR systems
- Communicate therapy progress and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care
- Offer patient and family education regarding therapy goals and ongoing care strategies
