Job Description
The Florida National Park Association (FNPA) is the official cooperating association and nonprofit partner to Everglades National Park, Dry Tortugas National Park, Biscayne National Park, and Big Cypress National Preserve. Our Park Stores partner with our National Parks to enhance visitor experience by providing interpretive retail products and customer service to visitors.
FNPA is seeking multiple part-time Retail Associates for its Park Stores in Everglades National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve, which are part of a dedicated staff committed to connecting the public to the Everglades National Park. The Sales Associate is responsible for creating a sense of welcome and hospitality while providing excellent customer service for all customer needs and purchases. You will be responsible for selling products, merchandising, and customer service in a retail setting.
Qualities:
● Retail or customer service experience
● Cash handling principles and practices
● Greet visitors in a friendly and professional manner
● Have a positive attitude while performing repetitive tasks
● Punctual
● Can handle stressful situations with professionalism
● Multitasking skills
● Comfortable speaking with Park visitors in person or over the phone
● Comfortable in soliciting memberships and donations
● Able to count large amounts of money
● Can work in a team environment
● Capable of using computer equipment, systems and software used in the management of retail operations.
● Maintain a safe and appealing store environment while supporting and following FNPA's missions and policies.
Duties:
● Responsible for opening and/or closing the bookstore by following proper procedures at appropriate times indicated.
● Inform visitors in person or over the phone about the National Parks and Preserve and programs offered.
● Maintain order of the front desk and welcome center area daily, including stocking brochures, card racks, maps, directions, etc.
● Direct visitors to desired locations in the national parks and preserve.
● Be competent in all aspects of the point of sale system and the related equipment, including cash registers and printer applications.
● Restock the sales floor while following visual merchandising guidelines and help create visual displays. Keep clothing and merchandise on shelves neat and make sure bookshelves are stocked and books are straightened daily.
● Assist in the receiving and stocking or preparing of all incoming and outgoing shipments.
● Participate in the inventory management process and spot check counts as directed by management.
● Complete change orders and store orders weekly.
● Solicit memberships and donations from visitors as they complete store purchases.
● Maintain knowledge on all procedures and job-specific knowledge.
Our employees serve as ambassadors for the Florida National Parks Association (FNPA) and will promote FNPA's mission. FNPA provides quality educational experiences to national park visitors through our park stores, interpretive services, and custom publications. FNPA employees will educate visitors about our partnership with the National Park Service.
Requirements:
● Must have reliable transportation. Job sites are far from public transportation.
● Criminal background check and E-verify required.
● Able to work weekends and holidays.
● Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls.
● Requires mobility and physical exertion; duties involve moving materials weighing 10-20 pounds frequently, 25-35 pounds occasionally.
● Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as POS, iPad, calculator and similar machines.
