Attorney - Health Plan Recovery About the Role
This role will represent some of the largest health plans in the country and navigate reimbursement negotiations with opposing plaintiff attorneys. This position is ideal for attorneys with backgrounds in personal injury, insurance defense, or workers' compensation who are looking to move into a performance-driven, negotiation-focused role with measurable financial upside.
This is a high-impact position with no billable hours, focused on negotiating and recovering healthcare costs in complex injury-related claims representing the financial interests of our health plan clients. You'll work directly with plaintiff attorneys, insurance carriers, and adjusters, leveraging legal strategy to maximize financial recoveries for major health plans.
You'll be supported by your own dedicated team of legal assistant , allowing you to focus on strategy, positioning, and negotiation of your case portfolio - not administrative work.
Top performers have the opportunity to expand their case portfolio capacity and team of legal assistants over time, increasing further commissionable earning opportunity.
Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 (commensurate with years of experience)
  • Additional Earnings: Performance-based commission tied to individual recovery outcomes achieved
  • Total Earnings: Uncapped earning potential through performance-based commission
  • No billable hour requirements
Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic direction on case positioning, escalation decisions, and settlement approach
  • Communicate effectively with external partners and internal teams to move cases toward resolution
  • Drive recovery results that directly impact client outcomes and overall team performance.
  • Lead negotiation strategy and directly negotiate with plaintiff attorneys, insurance carriers, and adjusters
  • Evaluate legal arguments and defenses impacting payer recovery rights, including ERISA-governed plans
  • Direct legal assistants to prepare cases for negotiation, with operational support handling administrative components
Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of legal experience
  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Experience in personal injury, insurance defense, workers' compensation, or similar areas preferred
  • Strong negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize effectively
  • Collaborative, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a performance-driven environment
