Position Overview Galapagos Rockford Charter School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to support scholars with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) within the general education setting. This is a full-time, permanent position focused on fostering academic and social success for all scholars.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide small-group and one-on-one support to reinforce instruction and implement intervention plans
  • Model positive behavior and provide academic guidance in alignment with scholars' needs
  • Track and document scholar progress through daily observation, data trackers, and progress logs
  • Support school operations through clerical tasks, classroom setup, and other duties as assigned
Qualifications Candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • Completed 48 semester hours of college coursework
  • Earned an associate degree or higher
  • Hold a high school diploma with substantial experience working with children and supporting behavior
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience (paid or volunteer) supporting individuals with special needs or behavioral challenges
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and a results-driven mindset
  • Persistence and problem-solving abilities in the face of challenges
  • A belief in every scholar's potential and full alignment with Galapagos' mission and core values
