Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdioceseof St. Louis.
Job Summary
The Catholic Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, faith-filled, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. The teacher fosters spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through structured activities and play, while integrating Catholic teachings and values into daily classroom life.
Job Responsibilities
Instructional Duties:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet diocesan, state, and early childhood education standards
  • Use age-appropriate teaching methods and activities to engage children in foundational subjects (literacy, math, science, art, music)
  • Support each child's development through differentiated instruction and play-based learning
Faith Integration:
  • Incorporate Catholic faith, prayer, and values into daily lessons and routines
  • Teach basic Catholic prayers, Bible stories, and introduce children to Jesus, Mary, and the saints
  • Celebrate liturgical seasons and feast days in the classroom (e.g., Advent, Lent, All Saints' Day)
Classroom Environment:
  • Create a warm, welcoming, and safe classroom that encourages exploration and respect
  • Manage student behavior using positive discipline techniques rooted in Christian values
  • Maintain a clean and organized learning environment
Communication & Collaboration:
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress, behavior, and classroom activities
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers, aides, administrators, and clergy as needed
  • Attend school Masses, events, professional development, and staff meetings
Job Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required)
  • Valid teaching credential or certification in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
  • Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing (required for some schools/parishes)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate faith and learning
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
