Position Description
- Making plane and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects, machine control support, and various other survey support work.
- Survey and mapping methods, use of equipment and field safety procedures.
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including Robotic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Proactively upholds all JE Construction Services safety polices and standards.
- Maintains strict adherence to Company policies and procedures.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.
- Create, manage and maintain project layout and construction data.
- Establish and maintain standardized machine control / survey models and construction survey data for project level operations.
- Perform calculations such as alignments, drainage, structures and roadway modeling.
- Create machine and data collector files for the projects.
- Perform and assist with quality control on data calculated.
- And other duties as assigned by project management
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge in heavy construction industry and knowledge of Civil/Heavy Highway Industry
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and translate into survey data for layout in the field.
- Proficient in model building for machine control.
- Proficient knowledge in Construction Industry Standards
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be able to be work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Familiar with a wide variety of Heavy Highway and Survey practices and principles.
- Familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Previous experience on TxDOT construction projects.
- Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- 5 years of survey field and/or office software experience working on Heavy Highway Construction projects.
- Construction: 5 year (Preferred)
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds at a time.
- Be able to work in extreme weather conditions, hot and cold weather.
