Essential Functions These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omissionof specific duties does not exclude them from the position. Supervises daily check-in and check-out of participants and staff. Communicates with parents/guardians of participants as needed throughout the day during check in and check out regarding behavior, illness, injury, etc. and answering questions. Ensures that daily activity schedules and activities are followed by staff. Collects camp and registration fees at camp sites, as needed. Responsible for daily set-up and break-down of activities. Attends and participates in all field trips, activities, and special events related to camps. Serves as Camp Counselor or Program Lead as needed. Identifies and responds to camper behavior issues. Supervises participants during lunch hours, at the pool, and on the playground. Manages and modifies daily schedule as necessary based on weather, participant attendance, or staffing needs. Responds quickly, calmly, and appropriately in emergency situations (including weather and other extreme conditions). Swim instruction experience is desired. Performs other duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree in recreation, education, or related field and at least 18 years of age at the time of Summer Camp start date. Minimum one year of experience working with youth as a teacher or two summers of experience in a camp setting working with youth. Community CPR and First Aid certifications required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Previous supervisory experience desired. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Able to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities, and meet deadlines. Accurate, detail oriented, and organized. Able to resolve non-routine situations and problems that may require analysis. Good knowledge of a variety of recreational activities suitable for children, youth, and clientele having special needs. Good knowledge of facilities and equipment needed in a comprehensive recreation program. Good knowledge of rules and regulations governing the play of a variety of recreation games. Good knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary for protection of the public and employees in recreational areas. Able to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills to interact professionally and effectively with camp staff, children, parents, and other stakeholders, sometimes under stressful and emergency conditions. Able to communicate information that requires explanation or interpretation. Works under limited supervision for routine situations.
