PE Teacher

Job Summary

The Physical Education Teacher at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate physical education program that promotes physical fitness, healthy habits, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while supporting the school's mission and Catholic values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver age-appropriate physical education instruction aligned with curriculum standards and school goals
  • Promote physical fitness, coordination, motor skills, and healthy lifestyle habits among students
  • Foster an inclusive, positive, and structured environment that encourages participation and respect
  • Teach and model good sportsmanship, cooperation, self-discipline, and Christian character
  • Ensure student safety by maintaining clear procedures, supervision, and proper use of equipment
  • Adapt activities to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and fitness levels
  • Assess student progress and participation as required
  • Maintain gymnasium and equipment in a safe, organized, and functional condition
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support overall student development
  • Communicate appropriately with parents and guardians as needed
  • Support school events, field days, and extracurricular athletic activities as assigned
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school liturgies
  • Uphold school policies, diocesan guidelines, and accreditation standards

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field

Valid teaching certification preferred

Knowledge of age-appropriate physical education practices and safety procedures

Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education

Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills
