The City is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Evidence Technician to support the Division of Police by managing the secure handling, storage, tracking, and release of evidence and property. This important role helps maintain the integrity of criminal investigations through accurate recordkeeping, strict chain-of-custody procedures, and collaboration with law enforcement personnel, crime labs, court officials, and the public.
Responsibilities include processing and preserving evidence, coordinating laboratory submissions, managing firearms-related evidence procedures, collecting and documenting physical and digital evidence, conducting fingerprinting and background checks, and maintaining confidential records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, professional, and committed to accuracy, accountability, and public safety in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, a typical way to qualify is two (2) years of experience in a law enforcement agency in a technical or similar support capacity or an associate degree in law enforcement or a related field may be substituted for the required experience
