Up to 28 anticipated teaching positions in Brookline's STAR Academy, a summer program for English learners and METCO students entering grades PreK through 8.
Program Information:

• The program runs from Monday, July 27th through Friday, August 14, 2026 and instruction takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The program may be extended on specific dates to accommodate project-based learning experiences.
• The projected class size is twenty students. Each class will have a lead teacher and shared additional support (ex. assistant/paraprofessional).
• Additional staff including a program director, assistant director, team leader, teacher assistants, paraprofessionals, and adjustment counselors are expected to be a part of the program.

• Work from 8:15 am to 12:45 pm daily except on days when the program may be extended to accommodate special programming.
• Attend up to 3 meetings/orientation sessions prior to the start of the program, up to 3 meetings during the program, and commit to a maximum of 6 hours of paid preparation before the program begins.
• Enhance and teach a curriculum that provides opportunities for students to increase their skills in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension as well as learn content area vocabulary and concepts.
• Communicate as needed with families and report on each student's progress.

• Experience teaching students in any grades, PreK-8
• Knowledge of best instructional practices in teaching English as a second language and supporting content learning for all students
• Knowledge of local and state learning expectations in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies
• Ability to implement culturally responsive teaching practices that support the diverse needs of students in the program
• Willingness to collaborate with colleagues
• MA teaching license (SEI Endorsement preferred)
• At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
• Master's degree preferred
• Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required

• Attend all meetings that are scheduled for STAR Academy staff to the greatest extent possible
• Be energetic with a strong desire to work with children
• Communicate effectively- both in written and oral form- using positive interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information
• Model responsible use of technology including personal cell phones
• Provide a safe learning environment for students
• Be a positive role model for students
• Be fluent in English; knowledge of another language is strongly preferred
