Bus Aide Department: Operational Support Staff Employment Type: Part Time Location: Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences Reporting To: Operations Director Description Position Description: As a Detroit Academy of Arts and Sciences School Bus Aide, you will share a commitment to ensuring that every child is transported safely to and from school, home, and special events such as field trips. Requirements:
Must possess physical ability to perform all required work
Satisfactory Completion of Background Check
Prior experience working with children preferred
Ability to work with children and maintain discipline on the bus
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work up to 5 hours per day
Terms of Employment: Part time, up to 25 hours per week Key Responsibilities
Maintain a professional relationship with supervisors, staff, families, students and the public
Work independently and in teams to complete job duties and assignments in a timely manner
Monitor safety of scholars while riding the bus, including taking attendance and ensuring all scholars are accounted for
Establish and maintain positive rapport with scholars
Communicate with parents and guardians in a professional and proactive manner
Follow all protocols to report any incidents and accidents in a timely manner
Handle emergencies or unforeseen situations calmly and effectively, including administering basic first aid if necessary, and following established emergency procedures
Participate in evacuation and other safety drills
Meet deadlines for paperwork submission
Maintain a clean bus at all times
