Aerospace Manufacturing Engineer
This is a challenging and rewarding position with a mission to support the manufacturing of air and space-based RF systems in our Severn Operations of Lockheed Martin. This opportunity involves working closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing team to build prototypes, support New Product Integration (NPI) and production builds.
Key responsibilities include:
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and acceptance criteria for Aerospace components such as cable harness, mechanical assembly, printed circuit board assemblies, tiles, panels and soldering.
- Conduct and maintain certifications (MCPs) on required ESD equipment.
- Review and approve Engineering documentation like manufacturing travelers/work instructions.
- Aid Engineering and Project Management to identify equipment and tooling required to execute manufacturing work.
- Provide direct Quality Assurance ownership and oversight to manufacturing labs. Develop and establish metrics reporting structures.
- Provide mentorship and training to personnel in support of new processes and use of equipment.
- Conduct regular MRBs (material review board) to ensure nonconforming material/process is appropriately handled.
- Ability to drive Root Cause and Corrective Action activities to closure.
- Provide support with AS9100 internal and external audits.
- Must be hands on with prototype and new product/process introduction builds.
- Works closely with Project Management and Functional Managers in support of labor and material estimates and project schedules.
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or 5+ years Quality Engineering experience.
- Experience generating process documentation and operating procedures in an AS9100 environment.
- Good understanding of AS9100 standard, equipment/tool calibrations/PMs.
- Certification to the relevant standards.
- Familiar with Configuration Management Systems and record retention.
- Ability to capture as built configurations of products with material certs/C of C's to create End Item Data Package.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Desired skills:
- Previous work experience in a Quality Engineering role in support of Aerospace, NASA and/or FAA programs.
- Understanding and knowledge of FAA requirements/orders.
- Experience monitoring process yields, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics.
- Experience identifying solutions to manufacturing problems related to materials, design, and equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to tailor level of effort based on customer requirements and expectations.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Active Secret security clearance.

- Work schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
- Pay rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $99,700 - $175,835. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
