Teaching Locations: The part-time Elementary Health and Wellness Teacher positionis to teach Health and Wellness at the Peabody School (0.2 FTE) and at the Tobin Montessori School (0.4 FTE).

Tobin Montessori School: The aim of Montessori education is to foster competent, responsible, adaptive scholars who are lifelong learners and problem solvers. Montessori classrooms are equipped with a diverse set of materials, which are designed to foster physical, intellectual, creative, and social independence. The classroom atmosphere encourages social interaction for cooperative learning, peer teaching, and emotional development. Learning occurs in an inquiring, cooperative, nurturing atmosphere, where students increase their own knowledge through self-initiated experiences under the guidance of trained adults.
Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department Overview: Cambridge Public School's Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department is dedicated to creating supportive learning spaces where all students are known, celebrated, empowered, and thrive. Students will receive relevant learning opportunities that develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to be healthy and physically active. These experiences will support students to be engaged in exploring, creating, and advocating for meaningful changes at the individual and societal levels. We also recognize that certain groups have been historically marginalized, resulting in significant health and educational disparities. • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• Experience and/or education in: elementary health education, elementary education, and/or social/emotional learning
• Successful teaching experience in a diverse urban setting is preferred.
• Massachusetts Certification in K-12 Health/Family Consumer Science is required
• A love for children and a desire to work with elementary-aged students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, alongside the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with diverse staff, caregivers, and community partners.
• A commitment to the Cambridge Public School's Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department values, and continuous growth toward antiracist and anti-bias education.
