Our policy is to meet or exceed the standards set by the American Correctional Association, the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare, the New Hampshire Association of Counties, and the Merrimack County Board of Commissioners. As a Cook at the Merrimack County Department of Corrections you will prepare and assist with serving meals for the inmates in our custody and for our dedicated staff members. Your responsibilities include cooking meals using commercial culinary equipment, supervising inmate workers that assist with food preparation, and fulfilling/supervising basic cleaning and sanitation duties. You will help order, receive, check, and store food supplies, maintain security in the kitchen and help train inmate workers on food service and equipment operation. EXPERIENCE: One year's experience as a cook in preparing foods and cooking on a large scale or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: ServSafe certification or other recognized food safety certification is desired. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Pre-employment background required for this position.EOEThe County offers a comprehensive benefit package.
