Senior-Level Unix System Administrator

Seeking a senior-level Unix System Administrator with experience supporting Linux/AIX/Unix in an enterprise environment to help support a network integration project. We will be migrating existing servers to new IP ranges for multiple networks at multiple sites.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 8-10 years of experience in IT as a Unix Systems Administrator.
  • Professional certifications such as RHCE or LPIC-2 or similar experience.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, be able to coordinate well with multiple teams, and have the ability to perform analysis of the existing environment to devise a detailed migration plan.
  • Platforms – Must have significant experience supporting RHEL servers. The majority of the servers will be RHEL 7, but there may be RHEL 8/6/5/4 in the environment. It will also be extremely helpful to have experience with IBM AIX and other flavors of Unix.
  • Unix Networking – Will need to have a thorough understanding of how a Unix server communicates over a network, including the ability to update the IP configuration, as well as DNS and other network components.
  • Scripting and Automation Tools – Need to be proficient with scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, Shell to help automate the migration. Should have experience working with code repositories such as GitLab/GitHub. Experience with BMC BladeLogic/TSSA or similar deployment automation platforms.
  • Change Management – Must have experience working within a Change Management process. Will need to write change request tickets and follow them through the approval process. ServiceNow experience desired.
