Make a positive impact by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a dynamic school environment near West Jordan, UT. This contract position brings the opportunity to collaborate with educators and families, helping students who are deaf or hard of hearing reach their full academic and social potential. Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience providing instruction to students with hearing impairments in a school setting
  • Strong understanding of various communication modalities (e.g., ASL, auditory-oral, total communication)
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and teaching strategies based on students' individual needs
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within classroom, resource, or inclusion settings
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEP) specific to students' hearing needs and educational goals
  • Consult with general education teachers and support staff to facilitate students' access to the curriculum
  • Collaborate with related service providers and families to ensure a holistic approach to student growth
  • Maintain accurate records, progress monitoring, and data collection as required by school and regulatory guidelines
  • Provide advocacy, resources, and support for students and families regarding hearing loss and available services
