Citadel Security USA is hiring a Part-Time Unarmed Security Officer to support a community library in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This position combines security awareness with strong customer service and public interaction skills. The officer serves as a visible resource within the facility while helping maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for visitors, employees, and community members.

Primary Duties
Visitor Assistance & Community Engagement
  • Serve as a professional point of contact for library patrons and visitors
  • Offer directions and general assistance when appropriate
  • Maintain positive interactions with members of the public, staff, and vendors
  • Support a welcoming atmosphere through courteous communication and professional conduct
  • Assist library personnel by relaying concerns or observations when needed
Facility Observation & Security Support
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the building during operating hours
  • Observe public areas for potential safety issues or disruptive behavior
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and common spaces
  • Report suspicious activity, policy violations, or security concerns to appropriate personnel
  • Support library staff by helping maintain an orderly environment
Building & Property Awareness
  • Perform routine inspections of assigned areas within the facility
  • Identify hazards, maintenance concerns, or conditions that could affect visitor safety
  • Monitor restricted or employee-only areas as directed
  • Help ensure compliance with library policies and facility guidelines
Reporting & Communication
  • Complete daily activity records and incident documentation
  • Accurately record unusual events or situations requiring follow-up
  • Communicate relevant information to supervisors and designated library representatives
  • Maintain detailed and professional written reports when necessary
Required Qualifications
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to interact professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Comfortable working independently while maintaining situational awareness
  • Ability to remain calm, respectful, and professional during challenging situations
  • Customer-focused mindset and strong interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in security, customer service, hospitality, public service, or similar roles
  • Familiarity with incident documentation and report writing
  • Ability to resolve minor conflicts through communication and de-escalation techniques
