Required Qualifications:

For undergraduate courses:

  1. Master's degree in relevant discipline or closely related field.

  2. A demonstrated record of teaching in an academic setting or a record of mentorship, leadership or training experience in a professional setting.

For master's level courses, meets one of the following combinations of education and professional experience:

  1. A terminal degree/professional degree in relevant discipline, OR a master's degree plus seven years of relevant experience.

  2. A demonstrated record of teaching, training, research, scholarship or professional achievement.

Advertised Salary Range:

Competitive depending on experience and qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching courses in information systems.

  2. A strong record of professional experience in information systems or related field.

  3. Ability to design and deliver new courses successfully.

  4. Strong ties to the professional business community as demonstrated by employment or consulting activities

Position Overview:

Instructors serve as either part-time or full-time members of the faculty in the School of Business. FTE is determined by the course load. Instructors are a non-tenure track faculty position. Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and/or graduate courses offered by the School of Business on the Lawrence Campus, off campus programs, and/or online programs.

Applications will be reviewed and placed in a pool to be considered for teaching positions as needed. Applications will be accepted throughout the year. Appointments are one semester, renewable, subject to review and funding. The successful candidate must have appropriate authorization to work in the U.S. before employment begins. Any employment with the University of Kansas is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check.

The Instructor is a union covered position within the collective bargaining unit represented by United Academics of KU, AFT-AAUP, AFL-CIO; UAKU is the exclusive bargaining representative. As the State of Kansas is a right to work state, you have the right to be a member or not to be a member of the union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.
