Position Summary:
The Controls and Monitoring Technician will serve as the technical authority for controls and monitoring services, combining deep system knowledge with estimating, quoting, and client program ownership. Maintains technical accountability from field conditions through long-term system strategy.
Position Responsibilities May include:
• Technical Leadership. Will act as a team lead, account manage, and coordinator that schedules services and builds client relationships. • Act as final technical escalation for complex or high-risk system issues.
• Define monitoring strategies, alarm philosophies, and system standards.
• Approve significant system changes and corrective strategies.
• Develop technical scopes for controls service, monitoring, and remediation.
• Produce labor and material estimates grounded in real system conditions.
• Review and validate estimates created by others.
• Serve as technical owner for select monitoring programs or key accounts.
• Conduct on-site system assessments to inform strategy and pricing.
• Participate in client meetings to explain findings, risks, and recommendations.
• Mentor lower-tier technicians and help qualify advancement.
• Create technical standards, templates, and playbooks.
• Presence at key facilities for system reviews, client meetings, and critical events.
• Authorized to approve scopes, pricing assumptions, monitoring models, and system-wide changes.
Nature & Scope:

  • Has full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable work experience
  • Problems are typically difficult and complex
  • Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
Knowledge & Skills:
• Expert knowledge built environment, low voltage systems, MEP, and IAQ
• Expert programming in various languages and block logic.
• Expert knowledge of HVAC
• Project Management, Estimating and Sales
• Expert in 2 or more product lines
• Skilled at maintaining customer relationships
• Presentation skills in professional environment
Experience
• 5+ years of experience in the related field.
• Project Management, Estimating and Sales Experience,
• Servicing and programming (Not configuration) controllers for central plants, stand alone units, and buildings utilizing advanced line code.
• Required HVAC experience.
• Required Building Automation experience
• Required data analysis experience
• Required presentation and training experience
• Required diagnostic troubleshooting experience and Root Cause Analysis
• Experience managing budgets and projects
• Scheduling staff and coordinating teams and subcontractors.
Education/Certification
• High School GED required.
People Management: No
Physical Requirements / Work Environment
• Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Lift 30 pounds or more and operate personal or company vehicle daily. • Travel in greater city area more than 50%, service region 25%, and internationally less than 1%.
