Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1+ years of medical billing and coding experience preferred
- Mental health billing experience strongly preferred
- Experience with Simple Practice preferred
- Knowledge of insurance claims processing and Accounts Receivable follow-up
- Review appointment documentation and billing details to ensure claim accuracy
- Apply appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and modifier coding to ensure accurate claim submission and reimbursement
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits when needed
- Review insurance benefits with patients, including coverage, copays, deductibles, and patient financial responsibility
- Work closely with clinicians and management to resolve billing or documentation concerns
- Answer client billing questions via phone and email correspondence
- Assist patients with billing inquiries and provide clear explanations of charges
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
