Network Engineer L3
Location: Richmond, VA / Dallas, TX (Hybrid)
Seeking a senior-level L3 Network Engineer with strong hands-on experience in routing, switching, wired/wireless, and SD-WAN technologies. This role is responsible for handling deployment, network design, advanced troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L3 support for enterprise routing, switching, LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, QoS, wireless, and SD-WAN.
- Design, configure, and maintain Cisco routers, switches, wireless controllers, and access points.
- Lead and execute network upgrades, migrations, and deployments across campus and branch sites.
- Manage and support Cisco products, SD-WAN solutions.
- Access point (Meraki, Cisco) deployment, configuration, troubleshooting.
- Perform network performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization.
- Ensure network stability through monitoring, proactive tuning, and preventive maintenance.
- Participate in change management activities (planning, approvals, execution).
- Support on-call rotation for critical incidents.
Required Skills & Experience
- Min 10+ years of hands-on network engineering experience (L2/L3).
- Strong expertise in:
- Routing: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- Switching: VLANs, STP, EtherChannel, QoS
- Wireless: Cisco & Meraki, APs, RF basics
- WAN/SD-WAN: Cisco SD-WAN (Palo & Meraki)
- Good experience with Cisco platforms (IOS, IOS-XE, NX-OS).
- Strong troubleshooting capability using tools like Wireshark, NetFlow, Syslog.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, DNA Center optional).
- Strong understanding of network security fundamentals (ACLs, VPN, AAA).
