HID Global is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Test Engineer to join our dynamic quality assurance team. In this role, you will be testing our access control products and other physical access devices. You will collaborate with global teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive continuous improvement in our QA processes. As our Senior Test Engineer, you'll support HID's success by:
- Designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases for embedded systems and related applications.
- Performing functional, automation, integration and regression testing to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Developing and maintaining automation scripts and test frameworks for embedded devices.
- Conducting hands-on testing of hardware devices, including setup, wiring, and configuration of test environments.
- Performing network analysis using tools such as Wireshark to troubleshoot embedded system communications.
- Identifying, documenting, and tracking software and hardware defects, ensuring timely resolution.
- Validating firmware, applications, and system integrations across Windows and Linux environments.
- Ensuring consistent adherence to QA standards, processes, and best practices.
- Collaborating with cross-functional and global teams including development, product management, and support to ensure product quality.
- Mentoring and guiding junior QA engineers, providing technical leadership and best practices.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives for QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Participating in test strategy development and support product lifecycle quality initiatives.
- Assisting in building and maintaining test labs, test rigs, and device testing environments.
- Supporting integration testing of networked devices and physical access control systems.
- Analyzing test results, troubleshooting issues, and providing clear reporting to stakeholders.
Your experience and background include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on QA engineering experience preferably with embedded systems.
- Experience testing Windows and/or Linux-based applications.
- Strong expertise in functional testing, regression testing, and test automation.
- Proven experience developing automation scripts and test frameworks.
- Experience with test planning, test case design, and QA methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with hardware setup, wiring, and physical device testing.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting and packet capture tools such as Wireshark.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience within QA teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with Physical Access Control Systems (PACS) is preferred.
- Experience developing test labs and test rigs for device testing is preferred.
- Knowledge of embedded applications, firmware testing, and web services is preferred.
- Understanding of networking concepts and configuration of networked devices is preferred.
- Familiarity with serial communication protocols such as RS-232 and RS-485 is preferred.
- Experience working with virtual machines and virtualized environments is preferred.
- Experience with IoT devices and cybersecurity testing methodologies is preferred.
