Java Developer

Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX Hybrid onsite 2-3 days per week, WFH 2-3 days per week

Position Summary:

These roles are open with a financial services company. Our team is looking for 2 Java Developers to help transform the enterprise into a data-driven organization. This individual will architect, design and build streaming solution(s) as part of a Risk Based set of systems. We need a major contributor in the development of scalable, resilient hybrid Cloud-based distributed computing solutions, supporting critical financial risk management activities. The role is for someone with experience in cloud development, having the ability to design large scale micro services based streaming solution(s). Further, this person should have hands on technical skills in creating prototype(s) and in setting right standards around software development practices.

Responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility is application development.
• Analyzes requirements, develops, tests, and documents software quality to ensure proper implementation.
• Follows agreed upon SDLC procedures to ensure that all information system products and services meet both explicit and implicit quality standards, end-user functional requirements, architectural standards, performance requirements, audit requirements, security rules are upheld, and external facing reporting is properly represented.
• Application and project risk analysis and recommends quality improvements.
• Providing advice on system functionality and fixes as required
• Communicates in a clear and concise manner all time delays or defects in the software immediately to appropriate team members and management.
• Experience with resolving security vulnerabilities

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience with Java - current with Java 8 and/or Java 11+
• 1+ years of experience developing cloud native streaming applications with Kafka
• AWS experience - the more the better, this is what they'll be using:
  • VPCs, EC2, ACLs, KMS, AWS CLI, IAM, Security groups
• Hands-on experience with any high-speed distributed computing frameworks: AWS EMR, Hadoop, HDFS, Spark, Hive, Kafka Streams
• Hands-on experience with a distributed message broker: Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Amazon Kinesis

Nice to have:

• Working knowledge of DevOps tools: Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Maven/Gradle, Nexus/Artifactory and CI/CD pipeline etc.
• Practical experiences and certifications (preferably RedHat EX180 and EX280) in Virtualization and Containers technologies.
• Familiarity with monitoring related tools and frameworks like Splunk, ElasticSearch, Prometheus, AppDynamics
• Previous experience at a financial services company
