Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV Role

Why: Reduce vehicle yard holds and improve product quality by executing ECU software deployment at scaleensuring correct software versions are applied at the right time across GM manufacturing sites.

What: Lead on-site deployment of ECU flashing solutions across manufacturing plantssetting up reflash environments, coordinating teams, and ensuring successful execution of software updates in production and yard environments.

How: Operate in a hands-on, field-based roledeploying ECU flashing solutions across plants, leading contractor teams, troubleshooting issues in real time, and working directly with engineering and manufacturing partners to ensure reliable, repeatable execution under production conditions.

This role is best suited for individuals who thrive in hands-on, field-based environmentssupporting manufacturing plants, leading deployment activities, and solving electrical and software challenges directly on the floor.

Work Arrangement - Onsite

The successful candidate is expected to report to the GMNA plants, warehouses, and the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires 75% or greater domestic and international travel.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • ECU reprogramming at different GM manufacturing sites.
  • Setup a reflash environment at GM manufacturing site and lead the team of contractors to reflash ECUs
  • Work with manufacturing, engineering and suppliers to understand current reflash process.
  • Promote a safe work environment and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Foundational understanding of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs, or embedded systems.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet) or coursework/lab exposure.
  • Familiarity with vehicle diagnostic or reprogramming tools (e.g., NeoVI, vSPY, DPS, or similar)
  • Understanding of manufacturing or end-of-line (EOL) processes, including basic testing or validation concepts.
  • Ability to follow and execute standardized technical procedures in a production or field environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability with aptitude to troubleshoot hardware/software issues with guidance.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and operations teams.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to document issues and support training or deployment activities.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, hands-on environments (plant, yard, warehouse).
  • Willingness to travel extensively (75%+) and work off-shifts, weekends, and extended hours when required.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • hands-on experience in automotive, manufacturing, or test environments.
  • Exposure to ECU flashing, diagnostics, or vehicle software tools (NeoVI, vSPY, DPS, etc.).
  • Experience working in a vehicle assembly plant, lab, or technical field support role.
  • Basic scripting or tooling familiarity (e.g., Python, logging tools, automation scripts).
  • Experience supporting technical deployments, launches, or field operations.
  • Familiarity with standard work, work instructions, or technical documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience/training).
