LPN School-Based Health

New Bedford MA - New Bedford, MA 02740

Salary Range $34.27 - $38.33 Hourly Position Type Full Time

Schedule Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m., 10 months with two months off in the summer, July & August.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions.

  1. Direct Care: Provide first aid and address sudden illnesses or injuries during the school day.
  2. Medication Administration: Safely dispense prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
  3. Specialized Care: Assist with one-on-one student needs like tube feedings, catheterizations, or tracheostomy care.
  4. Administer vaccines
  5. Record Keeping: Document daily visits, treatments, and medication logs in electronic health databases.
  6. Screening Assistance: Help conduct routine student health checks, such as vision and hearing screenings.
  7. Emergency Response: Act quickly during health emergencies using CPR, AED, and first aid protocols.

Strong communication, organizational, and emergency-response skills

  1. Education: Completion of a formal education program in practical nursing
  2. Experience: Previous experience in pediatric, clinical, or school nursing is usually preferred.
  3. Certification/Licensure: Active and unencumbered LPN MA license. Valid CPR and AED certifications.
