Description

Staff Electrical Engineer

Tectonic is currently seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting solar, battery storage, and grid modernization projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-level engineer to take ownership of exciting projects while developing technical and leadership skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of this position include working collaboratively on solar and energy projects with engineers, designers, clients, and third-party vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing detailed electrical design, including one-line diagrams, grounding, lighting, and equipment layouts;
  • Conducting power system studies (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, voltage drop) using ETAP or EasyPower;
  • Preparing equipment specifications, material requisitions, and reviewing vendor drawings;
  • Coordinating design efforts with civil, structural, and mechanical teams to ensure constructability and code compliance;
  • Supporting field teams by reviewing site layouts, performing site visits, and providing technical guidance;
  • Participating in 3D model reviews with clients, vendors, and subcontractors;
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation, schedules, and design records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering; EIT and/or PE License preferred;
  • Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in electrical design and coordination, preferably within the power, manufacturing, or renewable energy space;
  • Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and IEC standards;
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (2020 or newer), Revit, and electrical analysis tools (ETAP/EasyPower);
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Site or field experience is a plus;
  • Requires a valid, clean driver's license, as travel to job sites may be required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is often required to assume a stationary position, and regularly perform tasks that require the handling, inspection, and/or feeling of documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Occasionally, the employee will need to move around on the job-site, sometimes while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs and/or in hazardous weather conditions. The employee must be able to safely operate a motor-vehicle, in which they may be required to remain stationary for a prolonged period of time. They must be able to receive and convey detailed or important information with others using the Corporate e-mail system, telephone system, and conferencing systems. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Pay Range: $75,000 - $92,000 / year
