Staff Electrical Engineer

Tectonic is currently seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting solar, battery storage, and grid modernization projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-level engineer to take ownership of exciting projects while developing technical and leadership skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of this position include working collaboratively on solar and energy projects with engineers, designers, clients, and third-party vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables. Responsibilities include:

• Performing detailed electrical design, including one-line diagrams, grounding, lighting, and equipment layouts;
• Conducting power system studies (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, voltage drop) using ETAP or EasyPower;
• Preparing equipment specifications, material requisitions, and reviewing vendor drawings;
• Coordinating design efforts with civil, structural, and mechanical teams to ensure constructability and code compliance;
• Supporting field teams by reviewing site layouts, performing site visits, and providing technical guidance;
• Participating in 3D model reviews with clients, vendors, and subcontractors;
• Maintaining accurate project documentation, schedules, and design records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering; EIT and/or PE License preferred;
• Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in electrical design and coordination, preferably within the power, manufacturing, or renewable energy space;
• Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and IEC standards;
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (2020 or newer), Revit, and electrical analysis tools (ETAP/EasyPower);
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Site or field experience is a plus;
• Requires a valid, clean driver's license, as travel to job sites may be required.

Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is often required to assume a stationary position, and regularly perform tasks that require the handling, inspection, and/or feeling of documents, materials, and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Occasionally, the employee will need to move around on the job-site, sometimes while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs and/or in hazardous weather conditions. The employee must be able to safely operate a motor-vehicle, in which they may be required to remain stationary for a prolonged period of time. They must be able to receive and convey detailed or important information with others using the Corporate e-mail system, telephone system, and conferencing systems. Pay Range: $75,000 - $92,000 / year
