Sean McCarthy For Town Supervisor: Campaign Manager

The Campaign Manager will be responsible for all departments of the campaign, including finance, field, political, and communications. The Campaign Manager will report directly to the candidate and the campaign's senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have at least one cycle of campaign experience and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, and innovative environment. The work will require travel within the Town of North Hempstead, as well as evening and weekend hours, and will be based on Long Island in Nassau County, NY.

Qualified candidates must be highly organized, able to multitask, prioritize, and manage multiple deadlines, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. An ideal Campaign Manager candidate will possess:

  • At least one (1) cycle of paid campaign experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Votebuilder/NGP and ActBlue
  • Excellent Google Docs and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Communications experience is a plus
  • Quick problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented mindset. Must be able to take, give, and implement feedback
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines at once and keep calm in stressful situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Reliable access to a computer and personal transportation is required
  • Familiarity with Nassau County and the Town of North Hempstead is a plus

Job responsibilities include:

  • Working with a team of consultants and campaign staff to draft and implement a robust campaign plan that outlines campaign efforts through Election Day, including fundraising, voter contact, volunteer recruitment, local stakeholder outreach, and local media outreach.
  • Managing the candidate to ensure that strategic campaign objectives are being met.
  • Working with a finance consultant to develop and execute a multifaceted finance plan that maximizes fundraising across multiple donor categories (including PACs, high- and low-dollar individuals, and other institutional givers).
  • Managing candidate call time, including donor research, tracking pledges, conducting all follow-up correspondence, and officially thanking donors.
  • Building on, managing, and improving the existing donor database to identify, research, and recruit new donors.
  • Keeping the candidate, consultants, and campaign leadership fully informed of all progress and roadblocks, preventing information silos or gatekeeping.
  • Developing and nurturing relationships with key community leaders, civic and neighborhood associations, opinion leaders, and organizations across the Town's villages and hamlets.
  • Overseeing field operations, including canvass scheduling and launches, volunteer recruitment, engagement, and retention.
  • Collaborating with the candidate, consultants, and staff on messaging, outreach strategy, and get-out-the-vote activities.
  • Preparing the candidate for interviews and debates, creating press releases, managing press relationships, and handling rapid-response communications.
  • Supervising and managing campaign staff, interns, and volunteers.
  • Managing day-to-day campaign operations, coordinating the candidate's schedule, and prioritizing to ensure time is allocated wisely.
  • Requirements include working outside of normal work hours, including canvassing and other election-preparation activities as necessary.

Physical requirements include:

  • Working from a computer for long periods of time
  • Flexibility to work extensive hours outside of normal operating hours
  • Ability to drive and/or access to personal transportation
  • Travel within the Town of North Hempstead and Nassau County is expected

Compensation is $5,000$5,500 per month, negotiable depending on experience. Mileage reimbursement and a healthcare stipend are also available.
