Geriatric Nursing Assistant

As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), you will be an essential part of our caregiving team, providing invaluable support to elderly residents. You will be responsible for delivering personalized care, ensuring the comfort and safety of our residents, and assisting them in maintaining their daily activities. Your role will contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of life for our geriatric population.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and assistance to elderly residents in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Administer medications and document medication administration accurately.
  • Monitor and record vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
  • Assist in mobility and transfers, utilizing proper lifting techniques and equipment when necessary.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interactions to promote emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and update care plans for residents.
  • Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, promoting a positive and caring atmosphere.
  • Follow infection control and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of residents and staff.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA).
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in geriatric care is highly desirable.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and take direction from healthcare professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to provide quality care.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift, transfer, and position residents safely.
  • Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures.
