Athletic Trainer (27-30 hrs a week)Located in Portland, Maine, Cheverus High School is a Private Catholic College Preparatory School sponsored by the Society of Jesus. We seek to hire and retain faculty and staff members who are passionate and proficient in their fields, who understand and embrace our school's mission, and who are committed to leading students in co‑curricular activities. Prospective employees who understand and support our mission to be an inclusive and diverse community are encouraged to apply.Part‑time (27‑30 hours a week) includes Saturdays and Holidays.School year (August – June).DutiesPrevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuriesProvide athletic injury education and counseling to student athletesAssist Head Athletic Trainer in administrative dutiesAssist and advise the coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs, and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipmentAssist in monitoring environmental hazards (i.e. lightning, humidity levels, etc.)Provide athletic training coverage throughout each sport season, including Saturdays, holidays, and school vacations when necessaryAssist in the care and cleanliness of the training roomResponsible for giving basic instruction to athletic department staff members in the prevention and care of athletic injuriesResponsible for referring athletic injuries to physicians for diagnosis and/or treatmentCarry out appropriate instructions and treatment as directed by the team physician and/or student‑athlete's physicianSupervise and educate student athletic trainersCheverus Tuition DiscountPart‑time employees are entitled to a 25% tuition discount for their student(s) and, after having been employed three or more years, a 50% tuition discountPotential for extra hours within the athletic departmentRenewal reimbursements for required continuing education units, license renewals and dues.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree and experience in high school athletics preferredCertified by the Board of Certification (BOC)State of Maine Athletic Training LicensureStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with othersGeneral Computer Savvy – experience with tracking software, spreadsheets and emailAdditional RequirementsThe results of a background check conducted with the State Bureau of Identification and Department of Human Services, which will be conducted upon your employmentCompletion and approved Criminal History Background Check (CHRC) with the Department of Education (Cost $70)Sexual Harassment Training Certification (provided by Cheverus)Virtus Protecting God's Children Training and ongoing monthly bulletins completed#J-18808-Ljbffr
