Lead Radiologic Technologist – AFC Urgent CareAt American Family Care, we're not just treating patients – we're revolutionizing how people access healthcare. As the nation's leading urgent care provider with over 200 clinics across 26 states, we're looking for a Lead Radiologic Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic imaging while providing leadership and oversight to Radiologic Technologists and Medical Assistants.Position SummaryThe Lead Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging while providing daily leadership and oversight to radiologic technologists and medical assistants in an urgent care setting. This role ensures imaging excellence, regulatory compliance, workflow efficiency, and exceptional patient care across the center(s). The Lead Technologist serves as a clinical resource, mentor, and liaison between the clinical team and management.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Imaging ResponsibilitiesPerform diagnostic radiologic procedures (primarily X‑ray) following provider orders and established protocols.Ensure proper patient positioning, radiation safety, and image quality standards.Review images for quality and completeness before provider interpretation.Maintain imaging equipment, perform quality control checks, and report maintenance issues promptly.Adhere to ALARA principles and all state/federal radiation regulations.Medical Assisting DutiesSupport clinic operations by assisting with opening/closing duties, securing facilities, maintaining a clean reception area, and completing compliance checklists.Assist providers with clinical procedures, examinations, and delegated medical tasks.Conduct clinical intake by capturing thorough patient histories and updating EMRs accurately.Perform venipuncture and collect lab specimens in accordance with clinical standards.Administer point‑of‑care testing (e.g., Strep, Flu, COVID, HCG, UA, Mono) and ensure timely documentation in the EMR.Complete required quality control testing on applicable medical supplies and devices.Perform Urine Drug Screen (UDS) and Breath Alcohol testing (BAT) on employer‑health patients.Maintain well‑stocked and sanitized exam rooms, ensuring operational readiness.Meet or exceed performance expectations based on key performance indicators set by clinic leadership.Support the discharge process by preparing patient instructions, prescriptions, and required documentation such as work or school notes.Manage and prioritize patient flow to optimize clinic efficiency and enhance the patient experience.Execute provider orders in alignment with state regulations and AFC protocols.Facilitate patient referrals and diagnostic orders, ensuring appropriate follow‑up and documentation of results.Ensure daily clinic compliance with operational and regulatory standards.Leadership & Team SupportServe as the on‑site clinical lead for radiology operations during assigned shifts.Provide training, coaching, and competency validation for radiologic technologists and cross‑trained staff.Support onboarding of new technologists and ensure proficiency with workflows and systems.Act as a resource for troubleshooting imaging, workflow, and patient flow challenges.Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and patient‑centered care.Operational & Compliance ResponsibilitiesEnsure compliance with state licensing, ARRT standards, OSHA, HIPAA, and accreditation requirements.Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and quality assurance records.Participate in audits, inspections, and corrective action plans as needed.Collaborate with center leadership to improve imaging workflows, throughput, and patient experience.Assist with scheduling, coverage coordination, and workflow optimization for radiology services.Patient Experience & SafetyProvide compassionate, efficient care to patients of all ages.Explain procedures clearly and address patient concerns or anxiety.Maintain patient privacy, dignity, and safety at all times.Assist with other clinical duties as needed (e.g., rooming patients, vitals, splinting, EKGs, lab support) based on training and center needs.QualificationsRequiredGraduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.Active ARRT certification (or state equivalent).Current state radiologic license (if required).Minimum 2–3 years of radiologic technologist experience, preferably in urgent care, emergency, or high‑volume outpatient setting.Demonstrated leadership or preceptor experience.Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period.PreferredPrior experience as a Lead Tech, Clinical Preceptor, or Supervisor.Multi‑site or high‑volume urgent care experience.Cross‑training in medical assisting or limited lab procedures.Strong EMR and imaging system proficiency.Key CompetenciesClinical excellence & imaging quality.Leadership and team development.Workflow and operational efficiency.Regulatory compliance.Patient‑centered care.Communication and collaboration.Problem‑solving and adaptability.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods.Lift and position patients up to 50 lbs.Operate imaging equipment and computers.Work in a fast‑paced clinical environment.Work ScheduleVariable shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.May require travel between centers (if applicable).Equal Opportunity & CompensationAFC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and makes all employment decisions without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable law.
