Full-time with an excellent benefits package.Job Description A Crisis Counselor I provides intensive assessment, linkage and follow-up of individuals identified to be in acute psychiatric distress in various locations throughout the community or remotely, as assigned. S/he/they is responsible for referring clients to appropriate agencies for needed services and for assessing and intervening with individuals whose needs are more complex, requiring a higher level of expertise. S/he/they is expected to perform job functions with a degree of independence, and is expected to assist in the management of day-to-day service operation.Specific Responsibilities Provides short-term crisis intervention and diffusion for children and adults in the community and virtually including comprehensive crisis assessment and suicide/homicide lethalityMaintains accurate documentation of client/agency contacts in accordance with program policy and procedure manualAssumes on-call, and administrative back-up responsibilities consistent with program needsAttends and actively participates in all required training, staff meetings and case conferences as required by agency administrationEngages in supervision on a regular basisProvides educational/ marketing /training presentations to the community, as assigned by the Crisis Program DirectorAssists law enforcement and other agencies in handling mental health related crisisEngages in agency/program projects or work groups as assigned by the Crisis Program DirectorMay provide support/supervision to unlicensed staffSecures and maintains all necessary certification and professional licensing as dictated by profession and required qualificationsEngages clients with telephonic and virtual crisis intervention on the local crisis line and 988 crisis line as assignedMakes recommendation and assists in facilitation the appropriate level of treatment/services/supportsMaintains self in a professional manner at all times, adhering to The Neighborhood Center, Inc.'s policy and procedures and in keeping with the Agency's mission statementMaintains a valid New York State driver's license and have access to a viable vehicle, if not operating remotelyPunctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee.
