Senior Hydraulic Structures EngineerLocation: Phoenix, AZ, USCompany: Black & Veatch Family of CompaniesOpportunity Type: StaffThe OpportunityWe are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer with strong technical skills in civil engineering to lead hydraulic structures projects for our hydropower clients in the Northwest, West Coast and Southwest regions. In this position you will manage and mentor junior staff and develop an execution team capable of delivering a diverse variety of multi-discipline design projects.In this role you will have the opportunity to:Lead projects involving dams, spillways, intakes and outlets, and other hydropower and hydraulic structure improvementsDeliver innovative and high-quality design products, manage equipment procurement, and participate in construction processes for municipal and hydropower clientsCollaborate with subject matter experts across a wide array of disciplines to deliver PS&E's, technical analyses, etc.Mentor and interact across disciplines with professionals in our hydropower and dams teams.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunicate and work directly with client counterparts to understand key interests for developing technical solutions to their infrastructure challenges, providing ideas and strategies to deliver projects from concept to closeout.Translate client direction into efficient workplans and coordinate with project team members to deliver high-quality work products.Create written technical documents, technical drawings, specifications, cost estimates, alternatives analyses, and other common engineering deliverables.Have familiarity with design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes relevant to the hydropower industry.Leverage knowledge of general engineering principles including hydraulics, civil/structural design, geotechnical considerations, and mechanical systems to generate unique, engineered solutions.Prepare and oversee the preparation of calculations and design documents.Participate in equipment procurement and construction management processes.Manage and mentor junior engineers.Provide support to business development teams for pursuit activities with the opportunity to lead projects that you pursue and acquire.Preferred QualificationsExperience with West Coast hydropower clientsMaster's Degree in Civil Engineering or BusinessFamiliarity with state and federal regulatory requirements for dams and hydropower clientsProfessional Engineer (P.E.) LicenseMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the home country or country of practice.Minimum of 11 years related work experience.Must complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (e.g., criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.CertificationsActive Professional Engineer (P.E.)
