Position Overview The Substance Use Treatment Counselor provides a variety of medically necessary substance treatment services to a diverse client population, informed by quality assessment, efficient treatment, and timely medical documentation. The role includes actively participating in outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with all clients.Responsibilities Completes diagnostic assessments (e.g., SUD Assessment and supplemental assessments) to determine treatment needs.Provides individual, family, and group substance use treatment modalities as appropriate.Implements medically necessary treatment services, follows ASAM criteria, and determines level of care (LOC), including referrals for substance use treatment clients.Documents service provisions through timely and quality records, including progress notes, treatment plan reviews, and coordination with other providers.Completes additional activities assigned by the department head or direct supervisor.Make referrals to other services as medically necessary.Minimum Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of various theoretical treatments and practice applications for substance use treatment.Knowledge derived from direct service provision.Preferred Knowledge and Skills Experience managing treatment plans and treatment teams, including collaboration with other providers.Specialized treatment experience including SFBT, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and other evidence‑based treatments.Knowledge of state regulations as required.Behavioral Skills Integrity: honesty and willingness to do the right thing.Compassion: caring and empathic customer service, conflict management, and solution‑oriented communication.Accountability: ownership of situations, projects, and issues; ability to work autonomously with flexibility.Respect: collaboration with a diverse population and positive service orientation.Excellence: strong communication and presentation skills, strategic thinking, and leadership of day‑to‑day processes.Education and Experience Minimum: Bachelor's degree in addiction counseling or a related field (Sociology, Psychology, Social Work).Licensure and Registration BSRB License and in good standing for License Addictions Counselor (LAC).Valid Driver's License.Participation in E‑Verify.Benefits Paid parental leaveTuition reimbursementPaid time offHoliday premium payShift and weekend differential pay401(k) with a 6% employer matchMedical, Dental, and Vision coverageEmployee assistance programEqual Employment Opportunity Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, veteran status, or any other status protected by applicable law.
