OverviewKimley-Horn's Orlando, FL office is seeking a Power Systems Engineer in Training with 2+ years of experience to join their Power Delivery team. With a focus on serving clients within the power delivery and energy sectors, the Power Systems Engineer will act as a technical expert in the analysis of power systems transient and steady state. This is an in-office position.ResponsibilitiesSupport the power electrical team to analyze systems, create software models, and write reports for various projects e.g. commercial, industrial and generation projectsStudies performed may include (per candidate experience):Load Flow / Reactive Power AnalysisArc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or any steady state power system toolTransient studies using PSS/E and PSCADHarmonic studies using ETAP, PSCAD or transient softwarePartner with the electrical team to create calculations and drawings for various project typesContinually gain knowledge in power & energy industryAssist with project design, specifications, and plans supportReview work with quality in mind to confirm compliance with Kimley-Horn quality standardsQualifications2+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPCPSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, WinIGS, or CDEGS experience preferredUnderstanding or willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emerging technologiesGeneral understanding of engineering and energy systemsLoad Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory and methodologyProficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)Proficient with Microsoft OfficeAbility to work and manage several project teams concurrentlyThe ability to work independently or in a team environment effectivelyThe ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environmentPE certification or path to move towards certification is preferred#LI-AT1Why Kimley-Horn?At Kimley-Horn, we do things differently.
