Cold Spray Process Design Engineer – Missouri S&TJOB TITLE: COLD SPRAY PROCESS DESIGN ENGINEER (MISSOURI S&T PROTOPLEX)REPORTS TO: CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICERFLSA STATUS: EXEMPTPREPARED DATE: DECEMBER 30, 2025SUMMARY: Design, develop and produce Cold Spray processes and coatings. Facilitate development and testing of recipes in support of company capabilities. Determine applicable testing regimen to quantify and qualify results of spray operations. Oversee or conduct production runs of the spray operation. On occasion, supervise other parties in cold spray applications. This position will require relocating to the Rolla, Missouri area for the duration of the job. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Manage daily workload for remote spray cellAdjust variables in Cold Spray process to improve existing recipes and create new onesEvaluate test data and troubleshoot Cold Spray processes and equipmentWork with project engineers and technicians to plan projects and production runsProgram robots to perform spray functionsOperate cold spray machine to execute prescribed spray processes with precisionPrepare substrates of various kinds to receive powder applicationUse power tools such as grinders, drills, and saws for spray project preparation or finishingUse precision measuring devices such as calipers and micrometersMaintain qualifications on essential equipment and processes in accordance with DOD directivesMaintain document system that conforms to AS9100D requirementsOperate and maintain advanced level equipment like VRC Cold Spray Machines, FANUC robotics, hydraulic load frames, and optical microscopes.Build reports using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word that capture project efforts for communication back to a customer.Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities perform the essential functions.
