ResponsibilitiesWalter P Moore has an immediate opening for a Computational Designer. As a Computational Designer, you will lead the development and application of advanced digital workflows and data-driven strategies to enhance project delivery across the firm. You will collaborate closely with structural engineering teams on complex, high-impact projects while contributing to the growth of firmwide digital practice initiatives alongside other computational design specialists.This role requires strong communication and presentation skills, a proactive mindset for continuous improvement, and a commitment to lifelong learning. You will work across multiple projects simultaneously, partnering with interdisciplinary teams located in various offices. The position also involves direct engagement with clients throughout the project lifecycle and participation in industry events.In addition to project work, you will play a key role in advancing digital initiatives across the firm. This includes supporting the development, implementation, and adoption of new tools and technologies, as well as educating and collaborating with colleagues across departments. A successful candidate brings curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for exploring innovative solutions within the AEC industry.Key Responsibilities:Assist in the development and deployment of digital workflows via code and visual scriptingAssist in the development of BIMs and model-related deliverablesDevelop, communicate, and maintain scripting and modeling standards across the Structural Engineering project delivery teamsDevelop and maintain online documentation around the latest digital practices across the firmAssist in the training of staff on the latest digital tools and standards being applied on projectsIdentify opportunities for improvement in project delivery related to technology and data-driven processesDevelop visuals for communicating with clients and project teams to inform better design decisionsResearch and evaluate emerging technologies and their application to our projectsQualificationsQualifications & Required Skills:3+ years of experience in developing and applying advanced digital workflows in the AEC industryBachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural EngineeringUnderstanding of BIM as a process and concepts of parametric modeling, computational design, and interoperabilityExpert knowledge of Rhinoceros and GrasshopperExperience using Revit with project teams in professional settingsAbility to communicate visually with data visualizations, diagrams, and 3D renderingsCapability of learning new software and associated techniques quicklyCandidates must be proactive, have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be client-service orientedDesired, but not Required:Experience in a programming language (ideally Python, C#, or Javascript)Experience with Git and collaborative codingExperience with web developmentUnderstanding of Machine Learning fundamentals and applications.Experience using Rhino.InsideExperience using PowerBI or similar data visualization toolsExperience with Adobe Creative SuiteExperience using Tekla StructuresExperience with structural analysis software such as ETABs and SAP2000Hybrid Firm Position:As a Hybrid Firm, Walter P Moore combines the best of both worlds – blending work options to include in-office and home office environments. This allows us to offer more flexibility and work-life integration to our employees. Candidates applying for this position should have the ability to commute to or periodically travel to the affiliated office.To ensure the ability to setup a suitable home office space, Walter P Moore offers a one-time $1,000 stipend that would be paid upon completion of the first week of employment.
