Position OverviewWe are seeking a compassionate and skilled Small Animal Veterinarian to join our team at Houston County Animal Clinic in Erin, Tennessee. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing high-quality veterinary care and possess excellent communication skills to build lasting relationships with our clients. The role supports the Hospital Manager and Regional Manager, working closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.Key ResponsibilitiesComprehensive patient exams and medical work‑upsClient communication and educationPerforming diagnostic procedures and surgeryMaintaining accurate medical recordsPharmacy duties such as prescribing medications to patients and following controlled substance protocolsPromote teamwork and staff efficiencyWork with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectationsEvaluate and monitor protocols for daily hospital operations from intake to dischargeMonitor cases in the hospital and attend daily rounds when possible to ensure high standards are upheldParticipate in practice management updates and training at all levelsPerform other duties as assigned by ManagementQualifications (Required)Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or universityCurrent State Veterinary LicenseDEA registration must be obtained and maintained1+ year of experience in a veterinary practiceStrong diagnostic and clinical skillsExcellent surgical and dental skillsAbility to work well in a team‑oriented environmentExceptional interpersonal and communication skillsCommitment to providing compassionate and high‑quality veterinary careExcellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively, efficiently, and in a timely manner with all members of the Medical and Hospital staffClient communication skills, able to elicit information, establish rapport, and offer explanations to pet ownersDisplay confidence and reassurance when dealing with pets experiencing severe stress, illness, or painMay include some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawlingSome tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding workPosition requires the ability to lift up to 50 poundsPreferred Skills (Nice to Have)Clinical Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skill in examining and assessing animals. Perform cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological and other necessary examinations.
