Description The Barback supports bartenders and bar operations by maintaining inventory levels, ensuring cleanliness and organization of the bar area, and assisting with beverage service preparation. This role plays a critical part in delivering an efficient and exceptional guest experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist bartenders with daily operations by preparing ingredients, replenishing ice, restocking beverages, and retrieving supplies as needed.
Maintain adequate inventory of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, napkins, straws, and other bar supplies throughout service.
Monitor stock levels and communicate inventory needs to management in a timely manner.
Change beer kegs and assist with receiving, organizing, and storing inventory deliveries.
Prepare garnishes, polish glassware, and support beverage preparation as directed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar environment by washing glassware, wiping surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and removing trash and recyclables.
Respond promptly to spills, broken glass, and other safety hazards to maintain a safe work environment.
Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, cleaning, and restocking procedures.
Provide support to guests as needed while maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety standards, sanitation requirements, and responsible alcohol service guidelines.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous barback, food and beverage, or hospitality experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of bar equipment, beverage service, and inventory practices is preferred.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
Work Environment
Fast-paced bar, restaurant.
Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Position Requirements
Education & Experience • Typically requires a high school diploma and 0 to 2 years of experience. • Performs work under direct supervision. • Handles basic issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter. • Clerical skills. Organizational skills. Oral communication skills. Customer/client orientation.
